Our clinic has made a commitment to provide outreach care for pregnant people who are newcomers to Canada, as well as to people who are using substances during their pregnancies. We are fortunate in Ontario, that the majority of this work is funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
There are however items that are critical to each family’s success that are without a ministry source of funding.
- Transportation to pre/postnatal visits, to/from the hospital (bus tickets and taxi chits)
- Prenatal supplements
- Emergency food
- Medications that are not covered by the Ontario drug formulary (prenatal vitamins, steroids for immature lungs)
- Language interpreters
- Breast pumps
- Newborn supplies
- A clinic staff member to attend appointments that are not safe to attend with only one midwife.
- Follow-up visits for STI testing and contraception
We gratefully accept any donation you would like to make. Money is the most useful donation. Cheques can be made payable to Community Midwives of Ottawa or e-transfer to admin@ottawamidwives.ca.
